As an integral part of the Centre Convencions Internacional de Barcelona (CCIB), the Convention Center is a highly versatile and multifunctional event space facing Barcelona’s seafront. It can welcome up to 15,000 visitors and offers 38 well-lit rooms across three floors and two mezzanines.
Carrying on a tradition for more than 100 years as a powerful platform for activity and economic promotion. hosts nearly 80 international trade fairs annually with over 40,000 exhibitors and 3.5 million visitors. The building was renovated back in 2011, expanding its grounds to provide an additional 240,000 square meters of meeting and venue space.
GLASS
- The Inquiry.
After deciding to move forward on their newly expanded project, the managing partners and architect of the Barcelona Convention Center requested that an easy-to-clean coating be applied to all the glass panels – with the goal of reducing cleaning time and increasing long-term durability.
- The Solution.
Highly-specialized and award-winning architectural glass producer CRICURSA was chosen to not only supply the glass, but apply their Diamon-Fusion system – CRICURSA Shield. The protective coating creates a water repellent effect, enabling ease of cleaning, and protection against scratches, abrasions and environmental elements – lessening the time and frequency needed to clean.
- The Outcome.
The oversized, curved and flat glass panels, which range up to six meters in height, were factory-applied with CRICURSA Shield (Diamon-Fusion nano-coating). “This is an amazing project,” commented Joan Tarrus, Marketing Director at CRICURSA. “Incorporating the most effective hydrophobic surface treatment, Cricursa Shield, a Diamon-Fusion system, will reduce maintenance costs and provide better protection.”
