Target Corporation is an upscale discount retailer that provides high-quality, on-trend merchandise at attractive prices in clean, spacious and guest-friendly stores. They are the second-largest discount store retailer in the United States, behind Walmart, and a component of the S&P 500 Index. The Company was founded by George Dayton and was originally named Goodfellow Dry Goods in June 1902, with its first official “Target” store opening in Roseville, Minnesota in 1962. Known for their red and khaki wear, Target Corp. partners with suppliers who are certified-minority or women-owned and donates 5% of their profits to help strengthen their communities.
The Company operates 1,822 stores throughout the United States and is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota with two complexes (Target Plaza North and Target Plaza South), which are 600,000 and 1,250,000 square feet, respectively.

- The Problem.
Due to their porous nature (which allows environmental contaminants to penetrate the surface) the first-floor windows and exterior granite at Target’s headquarters had become severely damaged by the nearby sprinkler system, causing unsightly stains and deterioration. The executive team was in need of a solution that would fix the problem at hand and minimize future issues.
- The Solution.
After learning about White Bear Glass, a certified Diamon-Fusion applicator, the executive team at Target Corp., in partnership with DFI, chose the long-established glass shop to restore and provide protection to their windows and granite exterior. Diamon-Fusion nanotechnology fills in the microscopic peaks and valleys of any glass or glass-like surface, creating an ultra-thin protective barrier that repels water and environmental pollutants for an easier to clean surface.
- The Outcome.
By first using DFI’s restoration products, the team successfully restored the windows and granite back to a like-new appearance, then protected it from future deterioration and staining with Diamon-Fusion low-maintenance coating. When it was all said and done, over 9,000 square feet of glass and granite combined were treated.
